You have interpreted the article just as I intended so that gives me great satisfaction.
In hindsight I wish I had been a bit clearer in addressing the point about trunk based CI not being easier.
I also wish I had been clearer in that I’m not saying it’s a binary choice; you could do trunk based development without PRs but decide to raise a PR for a particular change that would benefit from a discussion before integrating. But quite often it’s the case that a branch policy is setup to deny commits on the mainline that aren’t made via a pull request.
